SGO joined the 2022 Korean Tribology Society Spring Conference.
SGO participated in the 2022 Korean *Tribology Society Spring Conference held in Jeju, Korea, from April 20 to 22 by the Korean Tribology Society (KTS), celebrating its 38th anniversary this year.
This academic conference covered various beneficial topics such as interfaces·materials, lubricants·lubrication, design·production, mechanics·mechanisms, systems·industry, and energy·environment. Each research team had an academic presentation on the evaluation system for bearing materials and parts for electric vehicles and tribology research using artificial intelligence.
*Tribology: The study and technology for lubrication, friction, wear, and mechanical element design
An Extract from SGO's Presentation
SGO R&D team presented its oil-less bearing’s development using Duplex Special High-Strength Brass, which has high strength and toughness with T/S 850 MPa and Elongation 5% except for harmful elements such as Be, Cd, and Pb.
It was a good opportunity to understand bearing-related technology and practical tribology research trends by exchanging research results on diverse topics. SGO will do its best to develop quality bearings by applying the up-to-date information learned from this conference.
What are Spherical Bearings?👨🏫
A spherical bearing is a bearing whose journal part has a sphere shape. In the case of oil-less bearings, the sliding surface is a sphere shape.
Inner Ring (Left) Outer Ring (Right)
In the photo above, the inner bearing has a sphere surface with solid lubricants inserted into brass and generally assembled with the outer ring that performs the role of housing. Depending on the bearing's use, the solid lubricants are applied to the outer ring or all inner and outer rings.
Assembled spherical bearing
Spherical bearings can withstand loads acting in multiple directions or absorb shocks and vibrations by enabling rotation of the shaft connected to the inner ring. Also, spherical bearings can damp shock, vibration, and friction by forming a stable surface pressure even under loads acting in the axial direction (thrust) and are used for buildings, marine, offshore, and hydropower plants.
