- What is Unit (U/C) Bearing? -

Unit bearings are assembled products that combine ball bearings with housing (case), sealing devices, etc. Internally, they have the general structure of bearings, while externally, they take on the form of the housing. They can be used by combining various shapes of housing according to the purpose. Also known as unit bearings, integral bearings, or hub bearings, they have a self-aligning automatic adjusting capability, preventing moment loads due to installation errors.

In terms of installation and maintenance efficiency, unit bearings are highly effective, making them widely used in various fields such as construction, industrial machinery, and agricultural machinery.

Types of Unit Bearing Housings (Cases)

Unit bearing cases are designed with various shapes to withstand high rotation speeds and loads. They are divided into shapes such as UCP, UCPH, UCPA, UCF, UCFA, UCFB, UCFC, UCFL, UCT, and the most commonly used forms are P-type, F-type, FL-type, and FC-type.

1) UCP (Pillow Type)

The UCP is the most representative form of a unit, featuring easy fixing to the shaft with a hexagon set screw or eccentric collar. The housing is designed dynamically and three-dimensionally, providing high reliability against loads in various directions. It is the most commonly used type in power transmission equipment and general machinery.

2) UCF (Square Flange Type)

The housing's square shape is optimal for installation on the side or vertical section of the machine, designed to evenly distribute the load with four bolts. Among flange types, it is the most widely used, providing maximum load capacity, prolonged bearing lifespan, and cost savings similar to the pillow type.

3) UCFL (Diamond Flange Type)

Featuring hexagon set screws or an eccentric collar at two locations on the inner ring for shaft fixation, the diamond-shaped housing can be assembled on the machine side with two bolts. Compared to square flange types, it reduces the installation area and weight. The pitch of the two bolt holes is compatible with the diagonal position bolt hole pitch of square flange-type housings, ensuring compatibility.

4) UCFC (Stopper Joint Attachment Round Flange Type)

This type features hexagon set screws or an eccentric collar for shaft fixation. The housing is precision-machined with a stopper joint assembly on the installation surface, allowing for precise positioning without eccentricity. It is an optimal product for use in places such as rotating drums where there is a concern about eccentricity.

How are unit bearing codes expressed?

The code of unit bearings is expressed by combining the housing type code with the bearing number based on the bearing's inner diameter. In other words, if a bearing with an inner diameter of 12mm (UC201) is combined with a P-type (Pillow Type) case, the designation would be UCP201.

SGO provides bronze UC bearings (flange/cylindrical type) for assembly with bearing cases. Customization is available for non-standard shapes through made-to-order manufacturing.
